November 20, 2014

Is it possible to move houses on a tight budget? Is it very hard to achieve this?

One of the words that springs to your mind when you think of moving houses is ‘expensive’, but it doesn’t have to be that way as it is definitely possible to move house on a tight budget. If you are scratching your head and wondering how to do that, then read all the 3 tips to move houses on a tight budget below…

1. Make a decision on movers:

Hiring movers might sound expensive, but quite often it can actually work out cheaper than moving by yourself. By hiring movers you save time and trips. You get the time to focus on other things and you save on fuel as you don’t have to take several trips moving your vehicle. So contact home movers and get a quote. Then calculate how much it is going to cost you if you move by yourself by taking things like fuel, time and all the other costs involved and then compare these two prices. You can then go with the cheaper option.

Maybe you could do the packing by yourself and hire the movers only for transporting the belongings. This should save some money. You will also save money if anything breaks as professional home movers also provide insurance.

2. Save on packaging material:

If you have several items, you will need a lot of packaging material which can be very expensive. So go around asking friends and neighbours if they have easily available packaging material like bubble wrap, packaging boxes, etc. Going to nearby stores and warehouses can help you find a load of this stuff, ready to be discarded. This will require a lot of planning in advance as it might take a while to gather sufficient materials. You could also store all the bubble wrap, boxes and Styrofoam you get when you too buy something.

3. Only transport some belongings:

One way to save on transporting prices, especially if you are moving to a place really far off is to not transport all your belongings at once. You can take the ones you need most to your new house and leave the ones you don’t in a garage or a friend’s house and only move them later.
